Dr. Duncan is an Assistant Professor and William Dawson Scholar in the Department of Kinesiology and Physical Education at McGill University. Dr. Duncan’s research focuses on the role of health messaging and other social-influence variables in motivating and supporting the initiation and maintenance of health behaviors. She has training and experience in developing and testing theory-based interventions for health behavior change as it applies to a wide variety of behaviors including physical activity, healthy eating, sexual risk behaviors, smoking, and doping in sports. Her research draws from both social and health-psychological perspectives and concerns the effectiveness of messages designed to encourage health behaviors in the general population as well as among cancer survivors and their family caregivers, and adolescents.
