Patient, Advocate, Alexander Technique Student
The Poise Project, United States
Jeffrey Tran brings the patient perspective: he has experienced multiple chronic pain conditions while balancing a demanding career in Chicago's high-frequency trading industry. He originally studied Alexander technique to improve his ballroom dancing, and has trained with multiple AT specialists over the past two decades. Jeffrey's path through diagnosis and treatment was circuitous as it is for many chronic illness patients. During that time, he found AT an important self-management tool. Jeffrey was diagnosed with fibromyalgia in 2021, he also deals with chronic co-related conditions including dysautonomia and pelvic floor dysfunction. Jeffrey's background in science and data analysis have informed his care decisions, and he has pursued a variety of both medical and complementary treatments. He has been able to connect online with others in the chronic illness community and has observed this community grow in numbers due to those suffering from the effects of COVID-related conditions. Jeffrey advocates for continued research and support to get patients the care they need.
