Badia Ahad is Vice Provost for Faculty Affairs and Professor in the Department of English at Loyola University Chicago. She received her Ph.D. from the University of Notre Dame and was a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of African American Studies at Northwestern University. For over a decade, Ahad served as the Director of Training and Master Faculty Development Coach for the National Center for Faculty Development and Diversity (NCFDD). In those roles she organized over 100 monthly guest expert webinars and multi-week courses for university administrators, faculty members, and advanced graduate students, coached thousands of faculty at all ranks and across disciplines in the areas of academic publishing, writing productivity, and post-tenure mentoring, and facilitated workshops on campuses across the United States on mentoring, establishing equity-based practices and policies, faculty success, and post-tenure pathways. As Vice Provost for Faculty Affairs, she serves as the lead administrator on faculty matters including hiring; promotion and tenure policies; new faculty orientation, mentoring, and faculty development programs; advancing diversity and equity; grievance policies and procedures; the faculty union/collective bargaining agreement; and sabbaticals and faculty awards.
