Ms. Mikaella Kokkinou is a Clinical Psychologist. She has a BSc in Psychology from Royal Holloway (University of London), an MSc in Mental Health from Kings College (Institute of Psychiatry) and an MSc in Clinical Psychology from the University of Nicosia (Cyprus). She is currently a PhD candidate in Psychology at the University of Cyprus, with specialisation in Neuropsychology and Traumatic Brain Injury. Apart from her academic research, she has been involved in the creation and implementation of Ariadne programme (2014-2015) aiming to apply early intra-ICU, both in-vivo and tele, psychological interventions to decrease the prevalence of psychopathology in the underage family members of patients hospitalised in the ICU. Moreover, she has been a coordinator of the follow-up team in CREACTIVE (Collaborative Research on ACute Traumatic brain Injury in intensiVe care medicine in Europe; 2013-2018). Through her PhD she has also been involved as a researcher in Brain-Rehab Programme (2018-2022) aiming to generate cutting edge research in brain injury and cognitive rehabilitation.
Ms Kokkinou has worked in various highly demanding mental health service settings. From 2014 to 2017 she has worked for the Intensive Care Forum (a non-profit organisation), as a Clinical Psychologist of the ICU of Nicosia General Hospital. At the ICU, she was also involved in a variety of research projects and she is the author of numerous publications. From 2017 to 2018 she worked at the ‘Children’s House’ (Hope For Children, CRC Policy Center) with the duties of performing assessment and intervention for cases of suspected child sexual abuse, as well as providing written reports and testimony at trials. Since 2018 she has been working in various settings at the Ministry of Health (Mental Health Services) i.e., at Athalassa’s Psychiatric Hospital, at the Central Prison Institution and currently she is at the Centre for Specialized Psychodiagnostic Assessments.
