Natalie Gilmore, PhD., CCC-SLP is a postdoctoral fellow in the Laboratory for the NeuroImaging of Coma and Consciousness (PI: Dr. Brian Edlow) at Massachusetts General Hospital studying cognitive, neural, and blood biomarkers of repetitive blast exposure in active-duty service members, structural connectivity markers of cognitive impairment in individuals with chronic TBI, and the relationship between change in cognitive performance from inpatient rehabilitation discharge to Year 1 and participation and quality of life at Year 1 in individuals with moderate-to-severe TBI (TBIMS study). She currently co-chairs the ACRM Stroke ISIG Aphasia & Other Communication Disorders Task Force and serves as Lead of the Collaboration of Aphasia Trialists Twitter team. Natalie earned her PhD from Boston University where she studied rehabilitation-induced recovery after acquired brain injury in the Aphasia Research Laboratory (PI: Swathi Kiran). Her research interests include 1) investigating biological, behavioral, and individual-specific drivers of recovery after brain damage; 2) developing and testing rehabilitation programs for language and other cognitive deficits after acquired brain injury; and 3) informing models of rehabilitation-induced recovery by linking gains in language and other cognitive function to the brain.
