Katie Sewell, PT, DPT is Director of the Atrium Health Neurologic Physical Therapy Residency Program and Therapy Education Clinical Specialist at Carolinas Rehabilitation main inpatient rehabilitation in Charlotte, NC. Katie graduated in 2012 from the College of Physician and Surgeons Doctor of Physical Therapy Program at Columbia University in New York, New York. She went on to complete a yearlong Neurologic Physical Therapy Residency Program at Atrium Health in 2018. She has ten years of experience working with the neurologic patient population with a specific focus on acquired brain injury, disorders of the vestibular system, and neurodegenerative disease (specifically Parkinson's disease and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis). Katie’s passion lies in advocacy for those without access to care and providing education on evidence-based practice in underserved areas. Her current role is focused on implementation of evidence based practice in the acute rehab setting, post graduate program improvement and development, curriculum sustainability and development, and innovative competency design. She is Board Certified in Neurologic Physical Therapy, a Certified Brain Injury Specialist, LSVT BIG certified clinician, Certified Stroke Rehabilitation Specialist, and a member of the Neurology section of the APTA.
