Dr Gareth Jones has held the Rehabilitation Clinical Lead and Consultant Physiotherapist at Guy’s & St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust (GSTFT), London, UK for 15 years. He is responsible for over 120 acute and outpatient physical therapists in specialties that include critical care, medical & surgical oncology, neurology & stroke, older persons’ medicine, overweight & obesity, vascular and amputees, and vestibular & facial rehabilitation. He was awarded his PhD (Rehabilitation) from King’s College London in 2020 investigating whole-body transitional movements in stroke. He has been chief investigator and principal investigator for several portfolio studies and is an active peer reviewer for journals and the NIHR in the UK. He has peer-reviewed publications and accepted scientific abstracts to his name since 2007 and has been successful in suecuring income in competitive grant iapplications, including most recently a Health Education England (HEE) clinical fellow award to focus on key workforce transformation relating to rehabilitation post COVID recovery using the RTSS. Over the past 10 years Dr Jones has driven a clinical academic focus for rehabilitation physiotherapists at GSTFT. He leads an active professional learning research environment across the department, supporting post-graduate masters, and advanced clinical practitioner programs, and clinically supporting PhD applications in his team. He is a visiting research fellow at the Centre for Human and Applied Physiology at King’s College London. He champions his team to ensure that a body of high-quality improvement and research work is designed and completed to inform practice, including applications for competitive grants, publications, and presentations at national and international conferences. Dr Jones is a research professional member of the ACRM and over the last year has been liaising with the RTSS networking group with his colleague in the UK, and fellow presenter, Jamie Gibson.
