Gino Panza is a Rehabilitation Scientist with a background in exercise physiology and strength and conditioning. Dr. Panza completed his post-doctoral training in the School of Medicine at Wayne State University (Department of Physiology) under the guidance of Dr. Jason Mateika. Dr. Panza's PhD work consisted of developing and implementing a 12-week overground locomotor training program for individuals with motor incomplete spinal cord injuries. In his post-doctoral work, Dr. Panza studied the clinical effects of mild intermittent hypoxia in individuals with obstructive sleep apnea and sustained hypertension. Thereafter, Dr. Panza began studying the effects of mild intermittent hypoxia and autonomic, cardiovascular and motor function in individuals with motor incomplete spinal cord injuries. After his post-doctoral experience, Dr. Panza accepted a position at Wayne State University in the Eugene Applebaum College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences where he is currently an Assistant Professor in the program of Occupational Therapy.
