Senior Director of Programs & Research
The LoveYourBrain Foundation, United States
I am an early career researcher with expertise in health services intervention research among neurological populations and people seeking reproductive health care. I recently completed by NIH T32 Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Dartmouth, during which I investigated the effectiveness and scalability of yoga interventions for improving quality of life, resilience, and functional outcomes among people with traumatic brain injury and their caregivers. Currently, I serve as the Senior Director of Programs & Research for the LoveYourBrain Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the lives of people affected by traumatic brain injury through community-based, mind-body programs. I oversee a portfolio of in-person and online, research-driven yoga programs for the TBI community, including LoveYourBrain Yoga and LoveYourBrain Mindset Online, six-week yoga with psychoeducation programs for people with traumatic brain injury and their caregivers. As a certified yoga instructor, I designed the program curricula in close collaboration with end users as a means to improve quality of life, resilience, and community integration. I manage our growing database of currently 5,000 participants, including self-reported outcomes measured by five instruments validated in the traumatic brain injury population, providing a wealth of opportunity for further effectiveness and implementation research. Furthermore, I currently served as a PI of a pilot cross-over trial evaluating the feasibility and effectiveness of this intervention for people with multiple sclerosis. In addition to effectiveness research, a central focus of my research is dissemination and implementation. For example, I currently lead and investigate the implementation of LoveYourBrain Yoga, which is delivered in close partnership with 10 community-based yoga studios and 15 neurorehabilitation facilities across the United States and Canada. Since 2015, I have trained over 1,500 yoga teachers and clinicians to deliver this program, which has served over 5,000 people with traumatic brain injury and their caregivers.
I do not have any relevant financial / non-financial relationships with any proprietary interests.
