Dr. Karmarkar is a Health Services and Health Policy researcher with a clinical background as an occupational therapist and advanced training in “big data” analytics. His research focuses on examining utilization of acute, post-acute, and community-based services and how they are associated with outcomes, using Medicare, Medicaid, Commercial Claims, and the Electronic Health Records. Dr. Karmarkar has published more than 65 peer-reviewed articles in high impact journals, such as the Journal of American Medical Association. He serves as a reviewer for multiple journals. Dr. Karmarkar also served as a standing member for the Methods panel for Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute and has serves as ad-hoc grant reviewer for foundations.
