Dr. Kala Flagg, PT, DPT, ATC, CSCS is a graduate of the Howard University Department of Physical Therapy. Shortly after graduation she also received her certification as an Athletic Trainer, and Strength and Conditioning Specialist certification in 2006 (NSCA). In the past 22 years, Dr. Flagg has held many positions in various PT settings including outpatient clinics, nursing homes, early intervention pediatrics, and inpatient hospitals. The majority of her experience, however, has been in what she references as “elite-level performance settings”, which has allowed her a tremendous amount of growth and creativity, and opened unexpected doors in the profession for herself and many others. Most notably, in 2005 she became the first-ever physical therapist to work directly within the Athletic Department of the University of Maryland, College Park where she helped establish and grow a multi-disciplinary team approach to patient/athlete treatment within the continuum of care. Dr. Flagg is also one of the travel PTs with the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater (AAADT) in NYC, and contracts with the NFL during their season. Recently, Dr. Flagg was a full-time faculty member and the Academic Coordinator for Clinical Education (ACCE) at Howard University in the Department of Physical Therapy for 3.5 years. She is also owner of TEAM Sports Injury Consulting- a multi-faceted Maryland-based small business focused on educating and treating young athletes and their families, consulting with professional athletes and performers, speaking on various topics and conferences and forums, and coaching other healthcare providers who would like to pursue non-traditional entrepreneurship options.
