Marlene Vega is a Rehabilitation Neuropsychologist and Assistant Professor in the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. She is also Director of Rehabilitation Psychology Post-Doctoral Training. She received her doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology with focus on Neuropsychology from the Minnesota School of Professional Psychology. She completed an internship at Penn Medicine Lancaster General Health and postdoctoral fellowship at Rancho Los Amigos National Rehabilitation Center, both in rehabilitation and neuropsychology. Her clinical work has focused on inpatient and post-acute rehabilitation of acquired brain injuries, spinal cord injury, solid organ transplant and medically complex conditions that affect functioning. She has actively served in leadership roles for several years with the American Psychological Association (APA), Division of Rehabilitation Psychology and ACRM Stroke Interdisciplinary Group. She is recipient of the APA Division of Rehabilitation Psychology Early Career Practice Award. Her research interests include cross-cultural factors affecting rehabilitation outcomes, health beliefs and emotional adjustment after acquired disabilities.
