Caroline Fleay is a leading Australian human rights scholar and advocate and has worked in the Centre for Human Rights Education since 2007 where she is now Co-Director and Course Coordinator of the Master of Human Rights. She is committed to high-quality tertiary teaching and supervision practice, significant and innovative community engagement, student participation and critical pedagogy. An internationally recognised specialist in human rights for displaced peoples, she is part of a scholarly and activist community that powerfully contributes to work that seeks to ameliorate the plight of refugees and asylum seekers through advocacy, policy analysis and research reports. In Australia, her leadership and advocacy is attested through her extensive community and industry engagement and her role as a Board Member of the peak national body, the Refugee Council of Australia. Associate Professor Fleay also plays a lead role in coordinating advocacy collectives in Australia in support of the rights of all refugees and asylum seekers.
