Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Fellow

I do not have any relevant financial / non-financial relationships with any proprietary interests.
Thus far in my training, I have been dedicated to my medical training, scholarly work and academic research and plan to continue this throughout fellowship and into my career as a pediatric hematologist/oncologist. My previous research experience is varied, as I explored career interests in pediatric orthopedics and pediatrics before committing to pediatric oncology. My first study was a collaborative work from an experience during medical school leading data collection on analysis of novel clubfoot treatment in a cohort of patients in Nigeria. My subsequent work included a case series of patients I saw in medical school and residency, a quality improvement initiative in pediatric urine sampling, and a retrospective analysis of antibiotic use in pediatric leukemia patients. As a result of these initiatives, I have gained experience with varied areas of study and begun to develop my skills as a clinical researcher. I currently continue these academic pursuits through my fellowship in pediatric hematology/oncology at the University of Minnesota, including formal coursework to obtain a master’s degree in clinical research. My current fellowship funding is through the University of Minnesota Research Fellowship in Translational & Genomic Pediatric Cancer Epidemiology, a T32 grant. As I look towards a career in academic pediatric hematology/oncology, I anticipate seeking a faculty position geared towards clinical research and being a leader in bringing pioneering therapies to patients in a safe and effective method.
