Emily Dunlap is a physical therapist from Austin, Texas, USA. She spent the majority of her career as a clinical aquatic physical therapist working in a variety of settings including inpatient rehabilitation hospitals and outpatient orthopedic clinics. Emily shifted her focus from clinical practice to teaching and research in the later part of her career. Emily is an active member of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA). She is responsible for the development of the APTA Academy of Aquatic Physical Therapy Clinical Competency Certificate program. Emily was honored with several awards for her work on the Clinical Competency Certificate program including the prestigious Judy Cirullo award for outstanding promotion of aquatic physical therapy. She authored chapters in 3 aquatic therapy related textbooks and has published original research on topics related to rehabilitation in the aquatic setting. Emily is certified in Halliwick, Bad Ragaz Ring Method, Ai Chi, and Watsu (level III). Presently, Emily is the owner of Aquatic Therapy Pro doing a variety of work as a researcher, clinician, and consultant for education. She runs an aquatic rehabilitation journal club which enjoys international participation. She is also a graduate student in the Cardiovascular Aging Research Laboratory at the University of Texas in Austin working towards her Ph.D. in exercise physiology. Emily’s goal in graduate school includes contributing to the ‘pool’ of evidence on aquatic rehabilitation.
