Sabrin Rizk is the first Bridge to the Faculty Scholar Postdoctoral Research Scholar in the College of Applied Health Sciences and the Department of Occupational Therapy at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC). Sabrin is an OT who earned her PhD in Health Sciences from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. As a rising pediatric health services researcher, Sabrin chose to complete her postdoctoral training phase in the Children’s Participation in Environment Research Lab (CPERL) at UIC. She is building a research program centered on understanding and improving equitable care coordination across health and educational systems for children and youth with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and their families, beginning in early childhood.
Sabrin has a clinical background as a registered and licensed pediatric occupational therapist with expertise in school-based practice. Her formative clinical experiences fueled her pursuit of a career scientist trajectory as a pediatric health services researcher.
Sabrin is committed to elucidating and mitigating social and structural barriers to coordinated medical home primary care and educational service use through early intervention and special education for children and youth with ASD. Sabrin is actively growing her health services and implementation research engagement within a team science model, while designing and launching new secondary analyses of national data, to further understand and mitigate disparities to educational service access for children and youth with ASD.
