Dr. Minmei Shih is an occupational therapist and a rehabilitation scientist with expertise in functional outcomes measurement and neurorehabilitation interventions for people with central nervous system diseases and injuries. Shih is engaged in a series of studies exploring innovative intervention methods to improve quality of care across the rehabilitation care spectrum, as well as intervention elements that impact functional recovery in activity and participation among adults who have sustained stroke, brain injury, and low vision. With her strong skills in intervention delivery in real world practice settings and improvement and implementation projects, Shih collaborates with researchers in research grant writing, data analyses, project management, including training and supervising clinical practitioners engaged in research activities.
Shih received her Doctor of Philosophy in Rehabilitation Sciences degree from University of Pittsburgh in 2008 and completed two years of postdoctoral training in the Department of Occupational Therapy and the UPMC Stroke Institute in 2010. Shih worked 10 years as a full time neurological occupational therapist in inpatient, outpatient, and home care settings. She has extensive experience designing, leading, and implementing quality improvement and research projects in clinical practice; mentoring domestically-trained and internationally-trained fieldwork students; and collaborating on the development of sub-specialty occupational therapy outpatient programs.
