I am an Associate Professor of Occupational Therapy at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) with expertise in dietary behavior and the development of behavioral dietary interventions for people with physical disabilities and complex medical conditions. I completed my doctoral training in Health Education and Promotion in the School of Public Health at UAB, followed by postdoctoral fellowships in comparative effectiveness research and behavioral interventions for obesity. The focus of these fellowships was training in the development, implementation, and evaluation of clinical trials for dietary and exercise interventions. I have experience conducting clinical trials of behavioral interventions with minority populations, older adults, patients with multiple medical conditions, and adults and children with physical disabilities. I have received funding through NIH, DOD, Paralyzed Veterans of America and the National MS Society.
