Director, Medical-Rehabilitation Research
Franciscan Children's Hospital
I do not have any relevant financial / non-financial relationships with any proprietary interests.
My clinical, research, and administrative experience and expertise include physical therapy, pediatric rehabilitation and examination of daily function for infants, children and youth. I have been a licensed physical therapist with a specialized practice in pediatrics for more than 35 years. I have conducted and published the results of single and multi-site studies examining the outcomes of care for infants and children with medical complexity who receive inpatient post-acute hospital care. In addition, I have a long history of examining and publishing findings related to the functional abilities of children receiving inpatient post-acute rehabilitative care using the Pediatric Evaluation of Disability Inventory (PEDI) and the Pediatric Evaluation of Disability Inventory Computer Adaptive Test (PEDI-CAT) (www.pedicat.com). As a Senior Author of the PEDI-CAT, I have participated in quantitative and qualitative analyses for item development, data collection for normative and disability samples, calibration studies, studies of accuracy and precision, field-testing of the item banks for discriminant validity, test-retest reliability, concurrent validity, feasibility and efficiency for the PEDI-CAT. My work includes successful collaborations with a network of community, hospital, and university-based colleagues nationally and internationally. At present, I provide direct physical therapy services, conduct research and teach in an entry-level and transitional physical therapy doctoral program.
