Dr. Hyo Jung Jeong, PT, PhD, MS is a NIDILRR ARRT postdoctoral fellow in the Orthopaedic and Rehabilitation Engineering Center (OREC) at Marquette University. She received her Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Physical Therapy at Yonsei University, South Korea. She has completed her Ph.D. training at Washington University in St. Louis, MO, in the Movement Science program, investigating foot and ankle biomechanics in people with diabetes. Dr. Jeong specialized in biomechanics, particularly in the identification of musculoskeletal problems during daily functional tasks. Her current training as a postdoctoral fellow in OREC is to learn pediatric movements during functional activities. In addition, Dr. Jeong is executing a novel study to characterize the biomechanical phenotype of children with hypermobility spectrum disorder and hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos syndrome. The ultimate goal of her research is to better understand the rehabilitation of movement patterns over a lifespan that could improve patients’ physical activities and quality of life.
