My scholarly and research interests broadly address infectious diseases epidemiology, infection prevention, and antimicrobial stewardship in high-risk patient populations, such as those with chronic disabilities. I am currently the PI on a VA Rehabilitation & Research Development Career Development Award. The primary objectives of my CDA project is to characterize antibiotic management of asymptomatic bacteriuria (ASB) and urinary tract infections (UTI) in Veterans with neurogenic bladder (NB) due to chronic neurologic injuries and diseases, to identify patient knowledge, beliefs, expectations regarding UTI management, and to survey patient-reported outcomes associated with UTIs. I have a strong research background from participating in numerous projects over the past 12 years focused on epidemiology of multidrug-resistant organisms (MDROs), antimicrobial use and stewardship, and rehabilitation populations. In addition, I completed a Master of Science in Clinical Investigation degree during my ID fellowship. During my VA research fellowship, I developed my interests in infectious diseases-related outcomes in high priority rehabilitation patient populations. I investigated risk factors, outcomes, and treatment of MDR infections in patients with spinal cord injury (SCI).
