Amy Kemp, MA, CCC-SLP, is a doctoral student under Dr. Katy O'Brien at the University of Georgia pursuing a degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders. After graduation, she will have three certificates for specialty areas in gerontology, public health, and qualitative research methods. Her research interests include how the brain processes information for learning, memory, and decision making. Amy is especially interested in traumatic brain injury (TBI) and cognitive aging. By utilizing her minor areas of specialty in public health and mixed methods, Amy is skilled in assessing barriers and facilitators of decision-making and processing in healthcare settings. The long-term impact of Amy’s line of research is expected to contribute to the understanding of components of cognitive processing that influence healthy cognitive aging and maintain autonomy in older adults with and without neuropathological aging. Additionally, Amy is invested in determining the successful implementation components for clinical adaption into clinical and translational settings, including hospitals, clinics, and therapeutic settings.
