As a clinical psychologist and Professor in the UW Department of Rehabilitation Medicine, Dr. Ehde have been the Principal Investigator or Co-Investigator on numerous extramurally funded research grants, including more than 20 randomized controlled clinical trials evaluating the effects of various nonpharmacological and pharmacological interventions for chronic pain, fatigue, and/or depression in persons with traumatic injuries or acquired neurologic conditions, particularly multiple sclerosis, limb loss, spinal cord injury, and brain injury. She has conducted both efficacy and effectiveness trials evaluating cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness-based interventions, and self-hypnosis training for symptom management, including fatigue and chronic pain. Her scientific expertise is in the areas of clinical trial design/implementation, cognitive behavioral intervention development, therapist training, treatment fidelity, and telehealth interventions. She holds the University of Washington Nancy and Buster Alvord Endowed Professorship in Multiple Sclerosis Research, a recognition of her contributions to the multiple sclerosis research field. She also has extensive scientific leadership experience, including serving as the Editor-in-Chief of Rehabilitation Psychology (the flagship journal for the field of rehabilitation psychology), and leading or participating in several national scientific committees and advisory boards.
