I trained as a clinical psychologist at Waikato University and then completed a PhD at Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand. My PhD research examined psychiatric symptoms and social support in unemployed people. A major component of my PhD research concerned the development of psychometrically robust measures for assessing complex psychological and behavioural constructs among disadvantaged groups. This interest remains prominent in my current research which is focused on measurement issues in neurological rehabilitation, mental health and palliative care. i am also interested in mindfulness, especially its measurement and in the use of network analysis to understand symptom clusters in major psychological and physical diseases.
