Amanda Penko, PhD is a Project Scientist at the Cleveland Clinic. She earned her PhD from Kent State University, and has worked in PD exercise research for over a decade. She is an American College of Sports Medicine registered clinical exercise physiologist and has served as a lead exercise physiologist on several research trials evaluating the effectiveness of home-based, community, and laboratory-based exercise interventions on clinical and biomechanical outcomes in neurological populations. She is an expert in exercise monitoring both in-person and remotely during exercise interventions. Her experience in neurological populations and exercise physiology allows her to appropriately risk stratify and evaluate participants ability to safely engage in exercise, effectively administer exercise and oversee aerobic exercise interventions. Her passion and expertise are in advancing neurological exercise therapeutic interventions to encourage individuals to exercise at the quantity of exercise required to alter the course of the disease and increase quality of life.
