MaryLourdes Andreu is a current pre-medical undergraduate student at the University of Miami majoring in Neuroscience with a minor in Chemistry. She commenced her involvement in the Neurorehabilitation Laboratory at Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital in the Disorders of Consciousness (DoC) Program. She transitioned to a data collector position for the Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) Model System performing Brief Test of Adult Cognition by Telephone (BTACT). She is highly involved in the COVID-19 RECOVR study whereby she serves as a data collector, conducting 3, 6, and 12 month interviews for study participants. In this role, MaryLourdes has been involved in writing the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for this study. In addition to her involvement in the Neurorehabilitation Laboratory, MaryLourdes is also a research assistant at the Miami Project to Cure Paralysis, the Lois Pope Life Center. In this position, she conducts research on the effect of human neural stem cells on inducing neuroprotection post-TBI, as well as, assessing the pathophysiology of microglia activation post-TBI. Upon completion of her Neuroscience degree, MaryLourdes aspires to attend medical school and become a physician.
