Vanessa Tomas, M.Sc., is a third year Ph.D. Candidate in the Rehabilitation Sciences Institute and Collaborative Program in Neuroscience at the University of Toronto. She is conducting her research at the Bloorview Research Institute under the supervision of Dr. Sally Lindsay in the TRAIL Lab. She completed her B.Sc. (Life Sciences) at Queen's University in 2016 and M.Sc. (Rehabilitation Sciences) at McMaster University in 2019. Vanessa’s research interests include knowledge translation / implementation science, patient-oriented research, children and youth with neurodevelopmental disabilities, the transition to adulthood, and participation and inclusion in the community, school, and employment. Vanessa's doctoral work with Dr. Lindsay involves codesigning and evaluating a disability disclosure decision-aid guide and planning tool for and with autistic youth and young adults to enhance self-determination and decision-making skills. She recently received a CHILD-BRIGHT fellowship award in patient-oriented research to fund the remainder of her doctoral work.
