Dr. Lisa Engel (MScOT, PhD, OT Reg, (MB)) is a registered Occupational Therapist in Manitoba and an Assistant Professor at the University of Manitoba (Department of Occupational Therapy, College of Rehabilitation Sciences; Canada). She received her Masters of Science in Occupational Science/Therapy in 2007 and PhD in Rehabilitation Sciences in 2018, both from the University of Toronto. She completed a Post-Doctoral Fellowship at the University Health Network’s Centre for Prognosis in Rheumatic Diseases. She has been the recipient of over 50 academic awards, honors, scholarships, and grants including multiple prestigious national scholarships, fellowships, and grants. She has published over 30 peer-reviewed manuscripts and abstracts and has presented nationally and internationally on financial topics relevant to rehabilitation. Dr. Engel’s program of research aims to (1) advance brain injury care and research in the Canadian province of Manitoba and (2) improve the financial capability and financial well-being of adults living with chronic health conditions and/or disabilities, especially those living with cognitive impairments. Her research views finance and economics as foundational to health and occupational outcomes.
