Dr. Slavin's research has primarily involved efforts to develop, test and disseminate state-of-the-art measures to assess rehabilitation outcomes. These measures, based on Item Response Theory (IRT), are administered using a Computerized Adaptive Testing (CAT) methodology, providing an efficient system for obtaining precise estimates of a person’s abilities in domains that are relevant to rehabilitation outcomes. Dr. Slavin has also contributed to rehabilitation research though involvement with several federally-supported national rehabilitation research centers.
