Dr Johnson is an emerging leader in clinical exercise rehabilitation, as evidenced by multiple invited international conference presentations, lectures, awards, publications and >$2.4M in research funding, including NHMRC funding (APP1171890). He is an exercise physiologist with research interests in stroke-inclusive cardiac rehabilitation, dementia and stroke, the effects of exercise and physical activity on cognition, and research implementation. Dr Johnson was awarded his PhD in 2013 (Medicine and Pharmacology, University of Western Australia). During a Postdoctoral Research Fellowship at the Florey Institute, Dr Johnson established an exercise physiology laboratory, leading to his recruitment to Epworth HealthCare to lead the cardiovascular rehabilitation program. He is a Lecturer at Australian Catholic University, has established national and international collaborations, and demonstrated leadership in student supervision and mentoring.
