Patrice is a registered Occupational Therapist (OT) who works as an Advanced Practice Leader in the Multisystem, Musculoskeletal, and Geriatric Rehab Program at Toronto Rehab, which is part of the University Health Network (UHN). In this position, she promotes the use of best practices for front-line staff by integrating education and research into clinical care. Patrice is also the current Provincial Head for Psychosocial Oncology at Ontario Health-Cancer Care Ontario, and brings a wealth of experience to the role from her work in acute care and rehabilitation facilities in Canada and the United States.
Over her OT career, Patrice has worked as a front-line clinician and in various leadership roles. In 2016 she was a proud recipient of a UHN Oncology Fellowship, whereby she developed an outpatient oncology rehab program to fill a patient-identified gap in care. In addition, Patrice has authored two cancer rehabilitation courses to help front-line clinicians to acquire the knowledge and skills to assess and treat patients recovering from the persistent and late effects of their cancer treatments.
Patrice attended Canada's top academic institutions and holds degrees from McGill University and the University of Toronto (U of T). She maintains a status-only lecturer appointment in the Department of Occupational Science and Occupational Therapy at U of T, where she has won teaching awards.
In 2017 Patrice was awarded the honour of ‘OT of the Year’ across UHN. She was also selected as one of the "Top 100 Accomplished Black Canadian Women 2022", and one of "Canada’s Top 100 Black Women to Watch in 2020".
