I am an Associate Professor and Director of the PhD Program in the Department of Nutrition Sciences at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, with formative training in behavioral neuroscience, nutrition and metabolism. The overall objective of my research is to elucidate the biobehavioral mechanisms that underlie the development of obesity and risk for cardiometabolic disease in children, including insulin resistance and type 2 diabetes.
