Stephanie Tomazin has a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science and a Master’s in Public Health (MPH). As an undergraduate, Ms. Tomazin interned at Loyola University’s affiliate hospital, Gottlieb Memorial, focusing on the development and implementation of Adult Cardio Training (A.C.T.) clinical program for individuals that have completed cardiac rehabilitation and/or diabetic. Post-undergraduate, Ms. Tomazin worked as a patient care technician in Good Samaritan Hospital’s intensive care unit (ICU) and in Shirley Ryan AbilityLab’s non-traumatic brain injury unit. During her MPH program, Ms. Tomazin focused her thesis on policy analysis and community interventions for chronic health conditions. After finishing her MPH, Ms. Tomazin returned to Shirley Ryan AbilityLab to work with Dr. Allen Heinemann, Dr. Linda Ehrlich-Jones, and Dr. Alex Wong as a project coordinator and participate in a NIDILRR-funded project that focuses on promoting job retention for individuals with physical disabilities. She was a part of a systematic review on the effectiveness of job accommodations for workers with physical disabilities and developed a framework to describe the facilitators and barriers of the use of job accommodations. With her public health knowledge and clinical medicine background, Ms. Tomazin is essential in recruiting participants with chronic health conditions and disseminating research data.
