National Sr. Program Manager, Quality, Outcomes, Research & Analytics. Gary’s primary area of expertise is Mission: Lifeline heart attack and stroke systems of care, working with hospitals and EMS agencies on improving patient outcomes by refining the patient journey. Gary has led Mission: Lifeline statewide and regional initiatives in 8 states over the last 9 years with the American Heart Association. Prior to coming to the AHA, Gary was involved in the development of statewide trauma systems, regional telemedicine initiatives, and mobile simulation units within rural states. Gary’s background also includes 15+ years in both fire and EMS. Gary received a Bachelor and a Masters Degree from the University of South Dakota, along with a Graduate Certificate from the Disaster Mental Health Institute at USD. Gary holds numerous EMS and fire certifications from the State of South Dakota, the National Fire Academy, and the Department of Defense.
