Hannes Devos, PT, PhD, DRS, FACRM, is an Associate Professor in the Department of Physical Therapy, Rehabilitation Science, and Athletic Training at the University of Kansas Medical Center. Devos' primary specialty area of expertise is neurorehabilitation of individuals with progressive neurological conditions. His current line of research focuses on the intersection of cognition and mobility. He uses electroencephalography, pupillometry, and virtual reality technology to elucidate the mechanism of impaired mobility in Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, and multiple sclerosis. As a driving rehabilitation specialist, he also renders clinical services to clients seeking to continue driving vehicles.
Devos serves on several national and international professional organizations. He is Chair-Elect of the Neurodegenerative Diseases Networking Group, current Co-Chair of the Cognition in Aging task force, and former inaugural Chair of the Parkinson's and Related Disorders task force, of the American Congress of Rehabilitation Medicine. He serves as executive member of the Special Interest Group on Driving of the World Federation of Neurorehabilitation, and member of the Research Committee of the Association of Driving Rehabilitation Specialists.
He has been involved, as PI, or Co-I in numerous studies funded by the National Institutes of Health, Department of Transportation, National Multiple Sclerosis Society, and Parkinson's Foundation. He has published over 80 peer-reviewed articles in peer-reviewed journals, including Neurology, Neurorehabilitation and Neural Repair, Neuroscience and Biobehavioral Reviews, and Archives of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. He serves as Section Editor of Archives of Rehabilitation Research and Clinical Translation, the open access journal of the ACRM.
