Carla Rigo Lima is a 4th-year rehabilitation science PhD candidate at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB). She completed her Bachelor of Science in physical therapy at the ‘Universidade Federal de Alfenas’ (Brazil) in 2016 and her Master of Arts in exercise science at Indiana State University in 2018, where she did biomechanics research studying sensory and motor alterations observed in individuals with chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy. This project has provided Carla with training for many skills including tissue fixation and preparation techniques, immunofluorescence and confocal imaging, pre-clinical behavioral assessments and phlebotomy, among others. Additionally, Carla has participated as a health coach in the MENTOR program within the National Center on Health, Physical Activity and Disability as part of her training as a Ph.D. student at UAB.
Carla Rigo Lima is anticipated to finish her PhD in the spring of 2023, and she is currently seeking potential post-doctoral and job opportunities in research and development within the scientific industry.
