Dr. Zafonte received her Doctorate in Physical Therapist from The University of Scranton in Scranton and is currently an inpatient rehabilitation physical therapist at Kessler Institute for Rehabilitation. Dr. Zafonte is a Senior Physical Therapist at Kessler Institute for Rehabilitation with expertise in the treatment of stroke, brain injury, other neurological diagnoses, amputee (pre-prosthetic and prosthetic), and orthopedic injuries. During her 5-year employment at Kessler, she has been engaged in initiatives of the amputee program teams to ensure advancements in best practice, patient and staff education, and the fundamentals of program performance. Dr. Zafonte is also a member of the clinical education team where she serves as a clinical coordinator and clinical instructor, among other responsibilities. Dr. Zafonte continues to work at Kessler Institute for Rehabilitation and has assisted in the facilitation of the Mindfulness and Pain Management group to address pain management using non-pharmacological interventions in a group setting in the inpatient rehabilitation setting.
