Andrew Nowak is a third-year medical student at Central Michigan University College of Medicine. He received his undergraduate degree in business administration from Washington & Jefferson College and a law degree from Syracuse University College of Law. Andrew was a practicing attorney before attending medical school. He is a leader of the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine medical student interest group at Central Michigan University and was a recipient of both the inaugural Agostini Medical Student Community Outreach Grant and Galen Medical Student Scholarship Award at the 2022 AMSSM Annual Meeting. Andrew created and planned “A Day in Sports Medicine” to introduce local underrepresented in medicine populations to the various professions involved in athlete care. Andrew also believes that research is a fundamental part of medicine and plans to both work with patients in clinic and participate in research. His recent research focuses on endurance athletes and climate change, patellar and Achilles tendon injuries, and sports related concussions. Andrew plans to pursue a residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation followed by a fellowship in sports medicine. He has a passion for helping people regain their fullest functionality. In addition to his enthusiasm for research, Andrew is an avid distance runner who has completed multiple marathons and 50-mile races.
