Gabrielle Kennelley is a third-year medical student at Central Michigan University College of Medicine. She received her BS in biology from Gannon University and MS in pathology from Case Western Reserve University. She was a leader of both the Oncology and Research in Medicine student interest groups at her medical institution. Gabrielle is interested in oncology and how rehabilitative medicine can be used to improve the lives of those with cancer. Her research includes interprofessional education, endurance athletes and climate change, phototoxicity associated with certain chemotherapeutic agents, and the use of alternative plant-derived compounds for the treatment of bladder and hepatocellular carcinomas. Gabrielle believes rehabilitative medicine is a field centered on collaboration among different types of healthcare professionals and that all are pertinent to holistic patient care and improved outcomes. Her submission focuses on how students from various health professions understand their own roles/responsibilities on the healthcare team, as well as those of other professions. Additionally, she is interested in how interprofessional education courses can be improved to enhance appreciation and respect among all healthcare providers.
