Jungmin Lee is a senior graduate student at the Pennsylvania State University where he is seeking a dual-title Ph.D. agree in human development and family studies and social data analytics. He is interested in innovative methodology, particularly in measuring and modeling psychological growth in the academic context. He has been studying quantitative methods to figure out the way of capturing dramatic changes from intensively longitudinal data; his recent work includes assessing the effectiveness of digital education for elementary students' reading skills, applying control theory to forecast optimal training dosage to facilitate children's arithmetic learning in a digital educational application, and addressing how positive and negative affects predict the future cognitive performance of midlife adults. He is also interested in applying machine learning approaches to qualitative data such as texts, an example of which is his previous project on modeling the topics of social forums to help physicians get insights from online self-help and support groups suffering from irritable bowel syndrome.
