Steve Fisher is a professor in the Department of Physical Therapy at the University of Texas Medical Branch, Galveston. His research and clinical interests center around physical functioning in older adult clinical populations and how function relates to important outcomes. This line of inquiry includes i) clarifying the natural history of older patient activity during and following adverse health events, ii) identifying clinically meaningful levels of activity; iii) identifying factors that influence older patient mobility during and after injury or disease; and iv) physical therapy interventions that improve walking ability and the safety of walking of older adults.
