Susan Coppola, OT/L, OTD, FAOTA is Clinical Professor at UNC Chapel Hill, where she has provided interdisciplinary education (IPE)and practice experiences since 1996. IPE experiences, in classrooms, virtual environments, clinics, nursing homes and at best in their homes, have sought to build community that integrates heart and mind in care with older adults and families. She worked with the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) to develop Board Certification in Gerontology and as USA Delegate to the World Federation of Occupational Therapists 2010-2015. Health humanities work includes publication of humanities-based pedagogy at Boston University in 2017. She has published about teamwork, aging, professional practice, ethics and pedagogy in 13 refereed journal articles, and 18 chapters, and is co-editor for two books by the AOTA press.
