In my current position as the Director of Research at Casa Colina Hospital and Centers for Healthcare, I work with numerous clinicians including physicians, neuropsychologists, physical, occupational, and speech therapists on over a dozen diverse research studies. The research, all neurologic or rehabilitation focused, ranges from outcome-based research studies to retrospective, observational, and randomized controlled clinical trials. I oversee a number of clinical trials ranging from neurologic conditions focused on developing novel assessments, treatments, and therapeutic interventions for individuals requiring rehabilitation and suffering from chronic disability. I also have a strong background in basic science with an emphasis in animal models for Alzheimer’s disease. As such, I am well-equipped to serve as a co-investigator on the proposed project "Treating pain in disorders of consciousness using Low Intensity Focused Ultrasound Pulsation (LIFUP)”. During the past 9 years I have worked extensively with individuals who have had a traumatic brain injury. The research I have done at Casa Colina has focused on neuroendocrine dysfunction and biomarkers for brain injury.
