Dr Elena Philippou PhD, RD, FHEA is an Associate Professor in Nutrition-Dietetics at the University of Nicosia and a Visiting Lecturer in Nutritional Sciences at King’s College London, UK. Dr Philippou’s research focuses on diet for prevention of degenerative disease, and more specifically, the effects of the Mediterranean diet and carbohydrate manipulation on cognitive function, cardiometabolic factors and rheumatic disease, aiming to identify dietary factors that can prevent disease and/or improve outcomes. She has a number of National and International collaborations including being an active member of a number of groups of the American Congress of Rehabilitation Medicine. Dr Philippou also has extensive experience as a registered dietitian and practices advising adults and children on diet-related issues.
