Head of the Department of Rehabilitation (Neurorehabilitation), including a Clinical Unit and a Research
Laboratory. The clinical activity is focuses on patients with impairments and disability of orthopaedic and
neurological origin (neuro-musculoskeletal disorders).
Editorial and research activities:
He has produced several scientific papers published in national and international journals in the
rehabilitation field (over 200 papers in journals indexed in MEDLINE and Science Citation Index, including
articles and book chapters). He is a member of the Editorial Board of Eur J Phys Rehabil Med, Muscle,
Ligaments and Tendons Journal (MLTJ), European Journal of Translational Myology.
His research activities are focussed on:
Exercise techniques in rehabilitation medicine; Rehabilitation and health in the thermal environment
where he participates to develop to the Thermal Rehabilitation. The objective is to raise the culture of
research and the development of rehabilitation in Spas area (Thermalism, Wellness and Health) around the
world.
Teaching activity:
Professor of Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine in School of Medicine, School of Physiotherapy, in
Postgraduate Schools in Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine, and Ortopedic;
National and international collaborations:
Collaboration to various European and national multicentre research and he has received many grants.
