Supported Employment Mentor/Trainer
Tuscaloosa VA Medical Center, United States
Virginia "Jennie" Keleher has been a Mentor/Trainer for supported employment in the VA since 2010. She was first introduced to the Individual Placement & Support (IPS) model of supported employment in 1998 when she joined a research project examining its effectiveness with people experiencing severe mental illness, and worked directly with the developers of the model. Throughout her career, Jennie has implemented IPS in various settings and with increasingly diverse populations; she is confident that the approach is disability-neutral, having seen positive outcomes across populations including those experiencing mental illness, spinal cord injury, post-traumatic stress, and now, traumatic brain injury (TBI). In her current role, Jennie co-supports 12 teams across the country to implement the IPS model with increasing fidelity in order to achieve successful employment outcomes with Veterans experiencing TBI.
