Dr. Jeon is a young promising researcher in the field of rehabilitation science research. He published a series of excellent papers identifying the underlying mechanisms of balance control and falls in older adults. One of his research interests is to understand age-related differences in neuromuscular balance recovery mechanisms following external balance disturbance. The study he would like to present is the first to demonstrate age-related differences in eccentric control of the perturbed leg and its relation to maintaining postural stability and improving compensatory stepping balance response following unexpected surface drop perturbations. This will provide insight into mechanisms of fall recovery and directions of targeted balance rehabilitation in older adults and patient populations.
