Holly Schmidt is a certified speech-language pathologist who is currently working as the Director of Throughput Operations at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago as well as a lecturer at Northwestern University.. She teaches Operations and Process Improvement for the Speech Pathologist in the Clinical Doctorate program. She is involved in improving patient access, inpatient throughput with a focus on decreasing LOS using lean methodology. Additionally, she is involved in a quality improvement project involving improving recognition and sepsis outcomes in the Transport environment. In 2021 Holly won an award for “Best Mini-Oral Presentation” with the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) on improving EHR in the Transport Environment and in 2020, she won another AAP award for “Best Allied Health Professional Presentation” on a topic surrounding process improvement in the critical care transport environment. Prior to working in improvement, Holly was a Speech Therapist in a pediatric acute care environment.
