Kendal Maxwell, PhD, is the Clinical Neuropsychologist for the acute service line as well as the Center for ALS care, a certified multidisciplinary center of excellence, at Cedars Sinai Medical Center (CSMC) in Los Angeles. She also has affiliations with California Rehab Institute and University of Southern California. Dr. Maxwell is the Leader for the Subcommittee: Non-Pharmacological Strategies For Agitation in Patients with Traumatic Brain Injury, as part of the larger multi-disciplinary CSMC Quality Improvement Project to Create a Multimodal Protocol for the Management of Agitation in Patients Admitted with a Traumatic Brain Injury. She is the author of 2 internationally known podcasts including the 21 Day Positive Mindfulness Meditation Challenge. She has presented several years at the International Neuropsychological Society (INS) conference with her most recent work titled: Performance on Brief Cognitive Screener and its Relationship with Discharge Destination in Traumatic Brain Injury Patients. Additionally, she has been featured in Forbes Health and Eat This Not That on topics related to dementia and stress. Dr. Maxwell has also led projects at CSMC for medical practitioners during the COVID-19 pandemic to assist with burnout and improving self-care. Additionally, she was involved in a Quality Improvement Project that revised the Medical Decision Making Capacity Assessment Policy. She continues to also provide psychotherapy via her private practice specializing in existential therapy and cognitive behavioral therapy.
