Mariko is a nurse researcher intereted in how health, wellbeing and quality of life can be enhanced for older people. She is an Alzheimer Society of Canada Postdoctoral Fellow. Mariko's program of research brings to the fore the perspectives and experiences of older people, and has brought attention to the challenging issues and diffcult transitions that older people with dementia face in health care systems and society at large. Her research also highlights the stimgram and discrimination that many people with dementia experience, as well as their ongoing potential as social and active citizens. Mariko is interested in work where people, such as those living with dementia, can participate directly and actively in research and knowledge transition.
